VIÑA MARTY - CENTRAL VALLEY, CHILE.

Viña Marty is a family owned Chilean winery located in Curicó Valley. Pascal Marty, the owner and winemaker, spent 14 years as an oenologist for Baron Philippe de Rothschild, and participated to the creation of Opus One with Robert Mondavi in California. In 1997, a joint venture with Concha Y Toro took him to Chile where he worked on Almaviva, and later designed Viña Cousiño Macul's “Lota”, a wine consistently rated 93 points and above.

Today, thanks to Pascal’s French heritage, knowledge and gained experience around the world, Viña Marty is able to differentiate and stand out from other Chilean producers by delivering a unique style of wine, with a history and soul.

Pirca Gran Reserva

Pirca is a unique style of a wall construction, traditionally created in Chile. Pirca is made of large stones which come from the vineyard and are mixed with mud and straw. When formed, the Pirca is covered on top with a layer of tiles to protect it from the rain.

The nature of a Pirca aims to represent the influence of the terroir in these wines. The tradition and complexity found in a Pirca can be easily compared to our wines, which are the best expression of the place they come from. Handcrafted in a traditional style, it combines the best of Pascal's French winemaking with the Chilean origins of these wines.

Pirca red wines are aged for 8 months in French oak. Pirca Chardonnay is partially fermented and aged in French oak for a couple of months during which time we stir the lees through the process of "batonnage".

The following varietals are available for Pirca Gran Reserva wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Syrah

ILaia Reserva

In 1996, when Pascal met with Baroness Philippine de Rothschild to be informed of his new position in Chile, she said: "we are sending you to the southern place of the earth".

In the Yagan language - an extinct aboriginal tribe from the southern hemisphere- Ilaia means "The southern part of the world".

This brand name is therefore the most representative word to describe Pascal's history in Chile and our Reserve line.

This is also the best way to describe the place where our vineyards come from, right in front of the impressive Andes mountain range. These vineyards, managed with passion and excellence, give birth to different wines of unique character. They are the perfect balance between the old and the new world style.

Ilaia red wines are aged for 4 months in French oak. For Ilaia white wines, the Chardonnay is fermented in French Oak for a couple of month during which time we stir the lees through the process of "batonnage". The Sauvignon Blanc is un-oaked but also kept on lees for several month prior to bottling.

The following varietals are available for Ilaia Reserva wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.

In this same mountain, the princess was buried and on the place of her grave surged a beautiful blue turquoise lake, that resemble the colour of her eyes. The princess named was Fa…
